I can't believe how much better the car is running.
What all is affected by the EGT sensors?

EGT sensors have a significant effect on the air/fuel mixture of the car.

Default ... as with DAP, for starters, the entire fuel loop =-)

I had a bad one(that I probably screwed up in my Stg3 install) and it took a while to catch a code. Finally died, I replaced it and all is well.

a bad sensor may not necessarily throw a code?

Default They throw intermittent ones that get cleared every so often, hard to catch those

as they don't light the CEL. I knew one of them was screwing up but didn't want to replace them both. Mine finally went into limp mode and lit the CEL on a WOT pull(stuttered some on other pulls so I kinda suspected EGT). Got a fault to ground DTC/CEL on B1 so that was that.

Ended up replacing both anyway though... just wanted to make sure that was the problem and not an O2, MAF or water sensor.

Default Details inside............

stock program = limp mode, no c/e light

ahem <clears throat>, 93 oct. program = boost, but didn't feel as fast as it should, car felt like it was hitting the rev limiter between shifts when accelerating at wot, still no c/e light and poor gas mileage. I really suspected a bad MAF. VAG-COM confirmed EGT Sensor 2.
