S4Alex

Okay, this happened a while back... a few weeks, but I was seriously lagging in posting the pictures. After some downtime and a little bit of yelling from a couple people.. here is the report and a few pics..

Started with a club meet of <A HREF="http://www.europrojektz.com">EuroProjetkz.Com</A>. There were 3 S4's, 2 A4's, 2 M3's, and 1 540. We met over at the In and Out on the El Camino in SunnyVale. Here is a panoramic shot of the cars ( minus 1 S4, rick (y4play) had to leave. some one had a date. )

From left to right we have <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/ring_master97/profile4.html">VTEC Killer</A>, yours truly <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/ring_master97/profile7.html"> S4Alex </A>, <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/ring_master97/profile1.html">Ring Master</A>, Driver with no Name, Jimmy, <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/ring_master97/profile2.html">Antonio</A>, and <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/ring_master97/profile6.html">Da Dinan M3</A>. Y4Play was there, but as stated earlier, had to leave.

Well, so the story goes, just as any other car meet. We get there, we park. We all oogle at each others cars for a bit. I have this, I have that. He has this, he has that. I have this much HP, this gave me that much torque. I should be able to run xx.xx. The typical talk right? Well, we all get a little bored, so we decide to eat. So we all order our food, chill outside. Then out rolls by a new E46 M3 in the puke ugly LSB. We try to flag him down to join, but that ofcourse didnt happen. So far, that was the highlight of the meet.
After grubbing, we all decide to go back to the cars. Take a few more pictures. Talk a bit more. I start talking to Nolan (Da Dinan M3) about his ride more. Wow.. Dinan Stage II M3.. with SuperCharger. Stage sumtin suspension. Must be a beast. As we are all leaving, I decide to go for it. I want to race. I really did think that I would loose. Loose big. Had the weird M3/SC on the head and it got me intimidated. Sorry. But, hell, I wanted to race, win or loose, I would give it my all. What all I have. So after a little bit of chatter here and there.. when.. where.. how.. etc.. all is agreed. So we drive off.
We head down to Cupertino behind the Oaks. On the way there, we enjoy a bit of spirited driving. I kept waiting for the M3 to leave me behind a bit, but lo and behold.. I am keeping up and pulling a couple times. Cool. Maybe I wont loose so bad. (Me still in the loosing mentality). On the way there, I can hear the distinct sound of bass booming from all the cars. And me and my puny NON-Bose radio. I need more bass. I am not a 1000watt wanna be, but something so that I can enjoy. Hence I made that purchase of my Infinity Basslink. Love it.
We get to the spot. Make sure all is clear. One of the guys acts as a spotter for the end of the road. Spotting for cars and cops.
Antonio acts as flag boy. Takes a little bit for us to line up. And we are off.
Much to my surprise.. off the bat, I took about a full car lead ahead. I had a pretty decent 1-2 shift and still kept my lead. After the take off, I was not able to get ahead anymore, but he was not able to pull anymore either. Halfway through the run, we can spot a car pulling out, so the race was reduced to a psuedo quarter mile to a psuedo eigth mile. Because of my lead, I will chalk up the win for this race. On to run two.
After we wait for a bit more traffic to pass, road is clear again. We line up and wait for the flag boy to get us going. Boom, same things. This time I LIGHTLY bog and only pull a half car length lead. However, I totally fudge my 1-2 shift giving him the chance to pull on me, which he does. Role is reversed, he is now half a car on me. Thank goodness for the torque of the S4, I was able to reduce the lead to only a quarter car length. But, I didnt have enough room and by the time we made it to our marker, it was over. I lost. So, chaulk up the second race to the M3.
Next race... wait... as we are driving back, we are flagged to keep going. Seems a goody citizen wants to take our plates and hand it over to the police so we keep driving. Race is tied at 1 - 1. This definately deserves a rematch.
At the time of the race, I have my old Forge Valves (sticking, big time), bald tyres, and a full load in my trunk. I now have updated Forges, new tyres, and cleaned out my car a bit. I definately want a rematch.
We all say our goodbyes as some drive off. He, Nolan, seemed like a good guy about everything. Thank goodness compared to some of the BMW drivers/owners that I know.
Okay, well, thats my story and I am sticking to it. Here are a couple pictures from the race. Very sorry that its pretty dark. My cam is not that great in the dark or dusk, but I will post anyways.

Well, now that I got a taste of the SC M3, I want a peice of a E46 M3. I am hungry.

I do not condone street racing to a point. We tried to make sure every precaution we could take we did.

We had spotters at the start and end of the course to make sure there was no oncoming traffic. the road we were on was a dead end road with no outlet, so we were clear on one end.

we made sure that we new when to start and we had an end point so we dont just keep going. if you race, at least try and make it safe.
