Which one is better? APR?? GIAC??
#3
I just got the new Giac X and am very happy with it.
It has very smooth power delivery, but as a result doesn't come on with the fury of a 1000 banshees. The overboost problem has been resolved and all in all it feels great.
Now, sit back and wait for someone with an APR or AMS chip to write you the same exact thing for their new chip and start over from scratch.

If you can, find someone in your area who will lend you an ECU or do a swap...
See what you like the best. Don't count out AMS or MTM. I have both an APR v5 and a GIAC-X ECU. I have been using my GIAC ECU more lately. In general, I agree with slug4:
1) GIAC-X has more power
2) APR is smoother
and would add
3) Easier to change programs with APR
4) Easier to update software with APR
Although the new SW version of GIAC-X (L308x) is smoother than previous version with a little less power, but still more than APR. So now they are both pretty smooth.

I did not have v7 GIAC-X. I have had two versions of v8 (L308x and previous version).
Latest version does not have overboost TC problems and seems to have better partial throttle response and is smoother. Looks more like an AMS HP curve, with HP peaked toward latter part of RPM range.
