Default Poll: for the people saying "run stock pads in the rear"...

how many of you were scrutinizing front to rear braking bias back in the day? Does anybody remember mpwolf's thread(s) surround that whole drama (stoptech vs. ECS vs. Brembo...).

Default did search, but non-bbk info is sparse and old. looking for current

and it looks like my only real option is hawk pads f/r.

Default hint: weston motorsports

There are no new offerings for stock calipers in the last 2 years.

Default We're giving advice to a beginner here. I don't think that rear track pads are critical

for someone like that. Hell, even front pads aren't "critical" for a first-timer, but it does help.

Default I ran a completely stock setup my first time out on the track. I ended up with bad pad deposits on

the rotors. Second time out, I tried a track-specific pad (Kerr Friction) and got better fade resistance and less pad deposit. However, the rotors were toast by that point (right at the wear limit).

I recently upgraded to the DBA4000 rotors up front. I want the BBK, but don't have the $$$ to do it yet. I'll run the rotors with the track pads for the first time at Watkins Glen at the end of the month. I'll report back on how they hold up.

Rears: I'm running the stock rotors with Ferodo DS2500. It seems to be a good compromise between track and street.

Default Re: The basis to his recommendation is the mating of the pads/rotors surface shape

I'm going to do option A, hawk HP Plus front and rear. I'm not gonna worry about track-only rotors. But have the feeling my next big mod will be a bbk, not the turbo swap like I was thinking.

Thanks everyone.

Default Stability Control eats rear pads

Because it's constantly nailing the outside rear caliper when you're turning at anything approaching the limit, attempting to keep the vehicle from spinning.

We've had cars consume outside-corner rear pads just from the turnaround in our testing. Turn off the stability control, problem solved.
