Default Opinion : $140 a good price for an alignment ?

This is on a state of the art alignment machine, reputable place...just seeking a few opinions before I pull the trigger or shop around some more.

Sounds high - I've never paid more than $80

Audi dealer here charges $150 IIRC, also specialized state-of-the-art equipment designed for AWD

Default Depends on the location...

In the SF Bay area, $140 for an alignment on a Hunter machine is about average; some cost even more and the dealer charges over $200.

FWIW,
Jim

Default My understanding is it typical alignment machines aren't suited to properly align AWD/quattro models

I know I wouldn't take mine to just any alignment shop, especially based purely on price. I'd want to know that they, 1) have the equipment to properly align an AWD car and b) have the experience to do it right.

Default Thats what I thought as well

The first place I called is a porsche tuning type of place, very reputable here in NJ. They have a state of the art alignment machine (just recently got it) Beissbarth Microline 4000. I'm definitely not worried about whether they know what they're doing or not, I just don't want to pay too much.

That's what I paid at my dealer a few weeks ago.
