Default Well.... this is very subjective. A novice can go out in any car on a track I suppose.

With the S4, if you never get out of (stock)third gear, then I would probably agree with you.

There is a scary problem that you can encounter if you get better at driving on the track. On a car with lighter springs, (H&R Streets/STaSIS Street Sports) you may corner at high speed causing the suspension to compress and bottom out on the bump stops. This causes a loss of control.

Default Well, I guess we have to agree to disagree because a large # of people on this forum.....

have WAY more stuff on their car than they can actually use.

Most people here couldn't out drive a stock S4.

Not trying to start a poop storm, but from my limited (2 events) experience, stock everything would probably be plenty for most for the first year or more on the track.

Your experience level is different.

So, from your stand point, what should a novice do for suspension when the time comes? Track sports, Ohlins, just curious...there has to be an end where the person just says, "I'm going to learn to drive with what I have and then upgrade from there."

I'll tell you, that's what I should have done to begin with. And had I done that, I'd probably have a nice stage II+ S4 and a light track car to toss around.

Default I guess I wouldn't argue with brakes. Both of my events were done with the ECS Stage III.....

brakes and full track pads - I have no stock brake experience on a track.

It's the suspension issue that is questionable.

How does a novice know how much suspension is needed until they can drive their car on a track a few times to see what the problems are with what they have?

Whew. I should be fine with track pads, as advised by many.

Default I've got zimm slot/drilled fronts and ecs slotted rears, already flushed fluid

But I wouldn't mind if I warped 'em. Good excuse to get the dba4k's all around.
