Default Parting out an E36 M3 convertible...

because I totally dismantled one on the morning commute! 4 lanes at a light. I'm in the second from the left, first position. Van beside me on my right, so I can't see the far right lane. Ford Focus on my left. Light changes - I didn't plan any fast run, but I did need to hold my position for the next light about 1/8 of a mile up the road (no traffic at all on the stretch). I normally depart from a light at a mildly spirited pace, but I catch out of my periphery a car accelerating hard from that right lane. I glance over quickly and see the E36 M3 convertible that I encountered earlier on the highway (nothing happened there - traffic). He's making a hard charge for the front, and has already changed lanes into the one beside me on my right. I gun it when he's about 1/2 car length in front of me. I shift at about 6k out of first into second (very careful not to bounce first), charge through second and have already passed him. Light ahead turns green for us before we slow down, so we get to continue for another 1/8 mile. Shift into third somewhere (forget when), and pull steadily. He backs off right about then and I coast it out. He eventually has to pass my lane behind me and gets into the far left lane - where he wanted to be anyway, apparently. As he passed on my left (we were in tighter traffic then), he didn't even glance over. Just gripped the wheel tightly and scowled on to work. Funny thing was, when I saw him first on the highway, I thought to myself: "Self, you've never had the chance to run an M3 before." When the opportunity arose, even though I didn't know it was coming, the S stepped up to the plate.

That's because we all know the S4 is faster than a stock E36 M3. No great feat.

Of course we do. But I'm sure we all grin when stomping them anyway. Oh well. 8-p
