It does not seem to trip any codes or DTC's. I reset the codes section do a Throttle adaptation and the light goes away, drive for about 20-25 minutes and it comes back. Has done that 4 times now. The EPC light does not flash it just stays on and the car seems to run fine. In the past, I have seen instrument cluster communication malfunction intermittent but it has hasn't come back in a few weeks now. When I vag it, I see no codes for the EPC light. I have a build date of 5/2000 and running H box ECU. have about 31K miles on it. I am also getting a little more hiss from the AM section of my radio which I never noticed before, not if it is related. The Throttle is new from the RS4 and I see no TB codes. Could I have a short of somekind somewhere ? Also, no CEL light either. I tried turning the car off and on but the EPC light still stays on. I did a forum search and found it's either a faulty ECU or in some rare cases an Instrument cluster.

Any suggestions.??

did you get DTC's too for instrument cluster communication ? I had those come on for about the last 6 months and never any EPC light. Now the EPC light comes on but I haven't seen any codes for anything else. What's a new cluster cost? With all the mods I have had done i doubt the dealer will cover.

No other codes. The dealer replaced the cluster under warranty and recoded it incorrectly.

Local Audi tech says to check instrumentation cluster section of vag-com and look in channels 60-62 and that channel 60 should read 1025 or maybe zero. Do you know if yours was coded wrong before or after they replaced it ? Also, what ECU are you running.
