Default If you plan to stay in one city, you absolutely don't need a car.

The subway system is too good. Also, because the train system is so efficient and extensive, travel between cities is equally easy without a car. I would leave your car at home and enjoy the scenery as a passenger this time.

Default Subscribe to all of the airlines' weekly email deals and just wait for the one that you want

It took several months for a Germany route to pop up, and I simply jumped on it when it did. I then cruised on over to hotels.com and picked a hotel. It was that easy. Air and swanky lodging for around $1800 (for two people). The rest is all entertainment expenses. Cut down on the hotel, and you can save a lot of money there, but I am spoiled when it comes to lodging.

Default Wish I would have known that ahead of time. The airport Forum folks were very nice and looked bored

I bet they would have enjoyed a spirited drive.

Default Great write up!

I love those tours. Jason, Matt and I did the Audi tour in 99 and I am looking forward to it again next month, when I am back in Germany. I used to live in the Olympic village when I worked in Germany during the first Gulf War and took every chance to take factory tours. Checkout the Building of an Audi article we put together after returning from out trip in 99.

The Building of an Audi
