Pilkington Windshield

So today I got my cracked windshield replaced finally. The last time I replaced it with a PPG part # FW 02262. The PPG was ok, showed no distortion, fit was mediocre at best. For some reason PPG had their writing in the middle of the windshield too. Why? Dunno go figure... I guess they figure people like seeing their logo in the middle of their dash.
Anyway, the guys over at All star glass in pasadena gave me a pick of which windshield I wanted. Said he could get a pilkington in real quickly to do the job. I had never heard of pilkington, so he took me outside and pointed out that all the side windows were made by pilkington, the rear was by some company called guardian that he'd never heard of. All carried the same warranty, so I said what the hell lets go for it.
The install took about an hour, fit is perfect on the pilkington, no distortion, has a slightly darker tint on it overall than the ppg, and yes the tint at the top of window is grey so it won't interfere with the UV detector on the rearview. Their logo is nicer looking too and off on the passenger side, not right smack in the middle.
I give it a big thumbs up. The guys at all star in pasadena are great too, just make sure you ask for Renee to do the install at their office, not offsite.
