Default Please help! Warranty Issue (long)

Thank you in advance for reading this. I am in the process of asking Audi to replace a rim on my 2001 S4 as it is in my opinion defective.

On Sunday, February 24, I was driving on the freeway home when I had a flat and had to pull over to change the tire. After removing the lug nuts, I was surprised to find that my rim had separated into 2 pieces which caused the tire to loose pressure and deflate when I going at 85 MPH.

At first inspection, I had thought that I had struck something in the raod which caused the flat and consequently destroyed the rim. However after closer inspection, it seems that the rim had come apart and caused the flat because the tire shows no signs no damage except minor scrapes on the sidewall. There are NO VISIBLE signs of damage on the tire by nials or anything of the sort.

I brought the tire to Rusnak Audi in Pasadena and showed them the tire only to discover that they think this was due to "outside obstruction" as they service consultant put it. I kept on explaining to them what had happenned...I have even called Audi as well but only to be told that they will abide by what the dealer recommends.

My question is...do I have any recourse to pursue this and is this what I have to look forward to everytime a warranty issue arises? Are all dealers like this? Any advice would be welcome...btw...my car is totally stock and I have been afraid to mod it due to warranty concerns. Ironic isn't it? TIA

Take it for a second, third opinion. And, fwiw, perhaps Rusnak Audi is correct.

Default Avus wheels are very strong and should not break

Unless you hit a deep pothole. Then they should deform or crack. How did the wheel come apart? Picture?

I agree. The cars in fron and behind were fine..no potholes. I will take pictures and post them in the next few days.

Default Your first mistake was taking it to Rusnak Pasadena.

Is there a service department with a worse reputation on this forum? You might not do any better at other dealers, but Rusnak isn't going to try to help you out at all.

Whom did you speak to there? Please take it to either Commonwealth or Pacific Audi
