Default Pointless "mod" Q time: custom tips on stock exhaust

Here's the skinny... no $$$ right now, but the stock tips are too puny for my liking. Although I plan on getting a real cat-back exhaust in the future, I would like to cosmetically enhance the exhaust right now. Has anyone had custom tips (like Magnaflow) welded onto the stock exhaust? On my old E36, this wasn't possible as the stock exhaust had some type of valve on the tips that would increase back-pressure at low RPMs. Does the S4 have any type of restrictor that I should know about? Sorry for the dumb Q... just trying to tide myself over until I start making the bucks.
