New GIAC-X code is best way to go. No addtional plumbing, cheaper (if you have flash version).

Also good for future stage 3 homebrew or is the old file better? Any reason to keep old file?

If you are going to homebrew stage 3 anyway, might as well get MBC and use your existing file.

reliable.

"fastest" would be the vast giac chip with mbc and tcd...
