Default No, because they don't check for that during scheduled maintenance...

this is coming directly from my mechanic this morning when I dropped my car off for my 30k service. They only check when something is wrong with the car. Again, this is what I was told from my mechanic at my dealer so this might not hold true for anyone else.

Default Black's Law Dictionary says, "Fraud....

Fraud. An intentional perversion of truth for the purpose of inducing another in reliance upon it to part with some valuable thing belonging to him or to surrender a legal right; a false representation of a matter of fact, whether by words or by conduct, by false or misleading allegations, or by concealment of that which should have been disclosed, which deceives and is intended to deceive another so that he shall act upon it to his legal injury. Brainerd Dispatch Newspaper Co v. Crow Wing County, 196 Minn. 194, 264 N.W. 779, 780.

Fraudulent Conversion. Receiving into possession money or property of another and fraudulently withholding, converting, or applying the same to or for one's own use and benefit, or to use and benefit of any person other than the one to whom the money or property belongs. Commonwealth v. Mitchneck, 130 Pa.Super. 433, 198 A. 463, 464."

That's where you'll find it!

Default I see...

so Audi deserves to pay more out of pocket for a risk *you* knowingly took?
kind of punishment for faulty windshield washer pumps?

i totally understand that audi is getting a bit heavy handed about the warranty thing. but imo we all have a choice whether to chip or not, and we all *know* that audi will void related warranty items of we do. we know the benefits, and the potential costs.

if you're not willing to pay the price if something goes wrong, you shouldn't play. anything else is weak.

Default Here's another reason.......

By Law audi must PROVE that the CHIP caused the Turbo to blow. I am sure many chipped cars with blown turbos have been because of the chip. But I can also tell you that many non chipped cars also blow turbo's. So for Audi to void warranty without proving the chip caused the turbo to blow is illegal and immoral but unless you fight them in court, you'll never win.
So that's why it's not FRAUD.
Two wrongs don't make a right, but audi voiding warranty's because of better hoses, BPV, brakes, exhaust, is ridicilous. They just don't want to pay for the repairs so they crunched the numbers and decided it's cheaper to void warranty's and fight in court if someone fights back rather than perform the work under warranty. It's all about the numbers..

The only chip-check needed is the one they do with their butt-dyno during the test run.

So what is Audi's response ? Raise the service interval to 10 K in 02 models. That'll help !?
