Default I have found the sponge to be the least likely to scratch over

things like mitts and rags. In college I had a detailing business, and I have tried everything. Especially if you wash the mitt a few times. I find that my sponge doesn't scratch period. And I throughouly rinse it after a wash. And, I use a seperate sponge for the wheels and never mix them.

Using lots of water, the idea is to get the dirt and abrasives away from the car as fast as possible. If you use a bucket, as soon as you put the dirty sponge/mit into the bucket you have the chance of re-applying that dirt to the car.

Occasionally if it is really dirty, I might take a drop of car wash soap and put it into the sponge. It will generate suds for the whole wash, and I am constantly rinsing during the wash. I am basically always hosing the area that I am washing.

I find that a shima shammy is the best to dry the car.

Just my opinion.

Default Griot's is the Best

Got to tell ya, I have tried them all and originally found the Meguires to be the best, until I tried a bunch of Groits products. The soap suds well, smells great, sheets great and cleans very well. I start with a hand wash using Groits, Then Clay the paint, then apply Groits way and I always get compliments. Very smooth surface, great reflections of the paint.. If you have not tried the Groits line you owe it to yourself to give it a try, you won't be dissapointed!!
