Default Poor 60 ft. times, anyone have good launch techniques? (more)

I have heard a few different techniques, but I'd really like to hear what others have done with success.

I had some very poor 1/4 mile times, all attributable to my slow 60 ft. times. Since this was my first go at the drag strip, I know that I can improve on 2.88 and 2.5. Uuugh.

Thanks a lot.

Default What were your 1/4 mile times?

I rev the car to 3000rpm and quickly ease the clutch out, shifting at 6500 rpm in 1st, and 7000rpm in 2nd and about 6200ish in 3rd....
-Cheng Kwan

Default You can get a 1 G launch by driving it off a cliff! ;-)

Are you a tip or 6? When I went to the track I rev'd to about 4000 rpm....I think. I slipped the clutch a little so the car could build boost and then gave it gas and release the clutch all the way. It gave me my best 60 foot. I don't think I will do that anymore though......but since it was the only time I know the car will go to the track for a long time, I said what the hell. Dropping the clutch doesn't work. The first run, I got a 2.2 60ft because the car bogged. I let the clutch out too much at the start and the run was my worst of them all. The following runs of the day I got a 2.09, 2.06 and a 1.9 something. On that last past I ran a best with a 14.1 @ 98. I could have definitely run a 14.0 or with a little luck got a 13.999999999 if I was willing to wait a little longer for the car to cool off and launch it harder. Plus, the temp outside was starting to cool. I think I launched at about 80 to 85% of what I could. I was just didn't want to break anything. Damn breaking my car for a good 1/4 mile time. I had driven 65 miles to the track and never really gave the car a good cool down until the last run.

I hope this helped some.....if you have any other questions about my experience, just let me know. Excuse any typos......trying to sneak and type this at work.
00 S4 Silver/Silver still w/ cracked windshield
