If it was the upper strut mounts, you'd hear it in other situations, too

regardless of wheel angle.

It's probably your CV joint. They "pop" as they begin to go.

Cool thanks guys I am still going to check a few things first but 100 bucks for a new joint isn't

bad as a worse case scenario.
