Some background on the car ( 77K miles, B&M short shifter, new 034 street trans mount) the sound is coming up from the shifter area only when you accelerate quickly or let off the gas. I replaced the trans mounts and it made no difference. The car shifts fine and runs great.

Maybe you need to realign the shifter

driveshaft play probably, do you hear a slight squeaking too?? If so, driveshaft center support bearing is shot

Thanks for your input guys; I plan on taking a look at the drive line this weekend.

Problem fixed!!!! I lubed the two collars in the shifter assembly and the problem went away.
