Portland drivers are generally terrible!
Anyone on the forum had terrible luck driving through or around Portland, OR. I am a native Milwaukee driver and after being out here for three years, at first driving a lexus ls 400 and now my S, I have seen almost everything. I swear that I avoid at least 2 accidents on a daily basis due to the incompetence of other drivers. But with the S the task is much easier. The other day, I was driving on 39th after holgate toward woodstock and this soccer mom in a van (shocker!) just tried to merge into my lane as I was right next to her. Luckily, I slammed on my brakes and avoided the mayhem. Anyone else notice this trend in Portland? These damn hippies!

But Milwaukie is just a neighborhood here in Portland, so you're a Portlander :P
JK....yeah some of the drivers here are terrible. What really gets me is the freeways around Portland with minimal room to merge onto or off of. You have 20 different people trying to either get on or off simultaneously.

Here's a secret that might help you out. But don't pass it on...
The right lane is the fast lane! ;-) Hehe, seriously. :P
But coming from someone from Wisconsin, that hurts. Wisconsin drivers have a lot of similar tendencies as Oregonians. Lotta left lane blockers! And when you pass them they get passive agressive and speed up, and get mad...

I thought Oregon drivers were bad until I moved to Texas...
I avoid getting run off the road at least 2-3 times per week, plus people here cant even go the speed limit. Never seen drivers that consistently travel 10 mph below the speed limit. This is Austin though, maybe Dallas or Houston drivers are better.

Have you been to Minnesota, WI drivers are light years ahead.
People in MN don't look when merging on, the drivers don't look for people merging. They don't move over if possible to facilitate people merging on.
Maybe there could be weekly write ups on driving issues:
>Merging
>Left Lane vs. Right Lane
>Use of mirrors
>Gawker Slow downs
>Braking for no reason(including in the middle of a curve)
>Turn Signals
>etc.

I have, and haven't found them to be worse, in my opinion.
But unfortunately, bad driving is really an American trait. Driving in Europe really confirms this. It's amazing how you never get brighted by people in oncoming traffic dozing at the wheel over there, and that signaling is expected...
