Default Preliminary info on P Zero Nero's

See my post below - finally got these on my car. These tires are supposed to be designed as ultra high performance, but particularly for cars that heavier. Early, early opinion is very positive. I replaced a set of S-02's, that were near the end of their life (the noise had gotten really bad, but the steering response with so little tread was great). The tires are not uni-directional, but they are positional (there is an inside and outside - the outside has fewer sipes for increased cornering response.) This gives more flexibility in rotating. It is very obvious that the P Zero's have made major changes in the sidewall stiffness - these tires give the car a very firm ride. It is a little hard to describe but I can feel the stiffer sidewall, but it isn't harsh. It feels a bit like when I upgraded the suspension to the Vortrag/Stasis coilovers. I have not yet been able to test wet performance, nor really aggressive cornering stickiness, tho both are supposed to be outstanding. With the stiff sidewall, the steering response is really, really excellent. I would rate the noise level as moderate. Certainly not the quietest tire I have had on this car, but not noisiest either. The tire profile is very flat on the side and squared off as it goes into the tread, as compared to the S-03 where it almost appears the tread "overhangs" the sidewall a bit. There is a small curb protector bead, not as large as the S-03's. And it is great to end up with a tire that is somewhere between 4 to 5 lbs lighter per tire than the porky S-03's, and about 1 1/2 to 2 lbs lighter than the Pilots and S-02's. I will report back on the wet and more aggressive cornering performance when I have experimented more. Thus far, though preliminary, I LOVE this tire. It may be the best yet.

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1006262.phtml</a

Default Thanks for the report...

and btw, where were you on PIR day?

I ended up with another set of Rosso's at $126 each. It was too good a deal to pass up. I think I paid ~249 originally.

Default Unfortunately ...

I have been flat out at work - simply couldn't take the time. $126 for Rosso's - did you win a raffle or how did you end up with such a good deal?

I assume the PIR function was great. Like last year?

Default You would have had a great chance to try out wet performance at PIR.

Sat. afternoon the track was almost like ice it was so slippery. The track manager was amazed we even continued with the event when I turned in the facility keys the following week.

Great quote:

"You guys with quattro are the only ones who could have enjoyed the track in conditions like that".

Apparently other groups who had tried using the track earlier in the week ended up cancelling after they found out what the track was like.

Default Yeah but won't you miss the "cool" raised/painted lettering! Maybe you could buy a paint

pen and fill in the letters?
