Default Programing Key Fob Problem

I know that this has been posted in the past but there does not seem to be a answer to my problem.
My only key fob does not work after I changed the battery. When I followed the steps to program it the only thing that worked is when I locked the trunk and pushed the unlock, then the back lights blinked once and only once no matter how many times I hit the unlock on the fob with the other key in the ignition. Has anyone figured out how to program the FOB from the trunk and with the driver side lock removed??
If someone can contacted me on how I can put back the driver side lock which I do not have and still not be vulnerable of the car being stolen from the driver side lock.

A few other posts with the same problem but no real solution.

Default I was having trouble programming mine so I just went to the dealer.

They programmed it for free. I do live 2 miles away from my dealer, and they are actually a good dealer. You may not be so lucky. Sorry I can't provide any useful information.

Default try this but with the trunk lock.

read the last sentence carefully... I always ended up with one key working until I reread this tech article.

https://www.audiworld.com/tech/misc13.shtml</a

Default Re: try this but with the trunk lock.

Thank you, I just tried that. The car only blinks once and nothing else.

I am ordering the VAG-COM soon, can I program the key FOB by the VAG?

Default well you have to go through all the steps..... the car will blink once for the 1st key and twice

for the 2nd....

I had to print this tech article out, take it to the car and do it a few times until I had it down.

Where are you located?
