Default its not about the price of the tire...

it started with regulations in germany in regards to tire thread... and the look grew.

Default 2nd...

I have BBS CH's with Pzero Neros 225/40/18, and i can't pull through car washes (let alone let someone else drive the car in there) because the rails will scratch the wheels. The tires do not offer any protection in that sense...

Default Look at the red car. if the tire was wider than or as wide as the wheel, it would never fit

it's not so much the stretched tire look, but the wide wheel look that people are going for. if you stretch the tires, you can run wider wheels and not rub. also has roots in europe where some areas have laws about tire width but not technically wheel width (thus the wheels get wider but tires stay the same)

Zing. Thank you. Had I not stretched the tire on my rear wheel, it would not fit.

Default Somehow I don't think tire manufacturers designed their products to be mounted like that...

An hence won't perform as intended if pushed to their limits. I like the look but not at the sacrifice of performance....

Default Wouldn't wheels with proper offset solve that problem?

I believe your last set of wheels are Work's?
