I usually don't drive hard at all before filling up...
First time, I went to fill up after a long highway drive. Second time, it was in the morning on the way to work. Ihope its just a passing thing cuz I'd hate to have to deal with this until somethign major needs to be fixed. =(

It's back....... zombie thread!
Brand new 2012 A3 TDI. First fill up fine, the next two, absolute pain in the ****. Takes a million pump clicks, each one shuts off, and the tank never ends up fuel. Going back to the dealer with it this week.
Two different stations, btw.

OK, I searched the forum archives and I couldn't find anything. The past 2 trips to the gas station have been very frustrating.
The pump keeps stopping every half gallon or so and no matter how I position the nozzle, it still stops!!! It takes me almost 5 minutes to fill up the tank and its pissin me off! I've tried 2 different gas stations and its the same crap.
Has someone experienced this and if so, do you have any solutions or suggestions? TIA!

Buy a long phillips head screwdriver and use it to push open the flap door in the fuel fill pipe when you are refueling your Audi. The problem may be caused by a defective valve in the fill pipe assembly. In a FWD Audi the valve can be replaced easily but for AWD A4s and S4s there is much more work involved to change the valve. If I remember correctly the fuel tank and rear axle need to be removed to change the valve. I have the valve but the screw driver method works OK so until I need to remove the rear axle for another repair I will continue my bad practice of venting refueling vapor in the atmosphere like cars have done for the past 100 year or so!
