Default Question about lip size on rims

ok :flame suit on: i've done a search, but have yet to find satisfactory answers to my questions. first of all, i've finally reached the rim buying stage of my constant quest to MOD. but all the rims i've looked at (in pictures, and in person) have not really had the type of lip i am looking for in the rear. i was hoping for some sort of substantial sized lip in the rear, is this even possible? by no means am i an expert on rims, but why is it that none of the aftermarket rims for the S4 have any lip on them? are there any out there? the two types i am looking at are the SSR GT3s, or the Axis Supermesh. i guess what i'm trying to say is, what is the biggest lip in the rear i can get for the S4? TIA (sorry about the long and rambling post)

Default in regards to GT3s...

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/7258/dsc00344.jpg"></center><p>i am sure the only wheel that will fit the S4 is the 8.5" size, which yields about a 1-1.5" lip.

take a look at this pic.

if you want bigger lip, get HRE or IF wheels with custom offset, as S4MADMAN SAID!! =)

Default Re: Question about lip size on rims

it's difficult to get big lips on wheels for these cars because of the offset requirements.

it's not like a rear wheel drive car where you can have positive offset wheels and get a huge lip on there if you want (mustang, BMW, for example).

we have CVs and steering components to deal with (on the front)...

the audis just aren't designed for anything other than negative offset wheels. not that the lips don't look sweet though, even if they are "faked"
(spokes bend in to meet the rim).

HRE's sure are sweet. wish i could afford them.
