question about tire pressure

i'm at work now reading an "import racer magazine" (i found it under the desk---I DID NOT BUY IT!) anyway...there's an article about a "motion picture stunt driving school" where instructor Bobby Ore claims to his students "tires on most street cars are under-inflated and should be inflated 10 pounds above the manufacturer's suggested pressure" I've never heard anything like this before. He goes on to say, "simply increasing the tire pressure helps reduce irregular wear caused by bad alignment. More air pressure reduces sidewall wear as well. On the downside, increasing the tire pressure makes the ride stiffer. Don't worry about blowing out a tire by increasing the pressure-they're rated for far more pressure."
IS ANY OF THIS TRUE? I'VE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE.

the shoulders of the tire, not the center.
You'll wear out the center of your tire a lot faster.
Might get better gas milage though.![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
And Yes, I think there have been studys that say that most peoples tires are underinflated.
