First of all, these water restrictions are getting old! I've been going to a spray only car wash every week just to get the dust and bird poop off. I took a good look at my car this morning and it looks terrible. I also noticed lots of swirl marks and some areas even appear quite dull.
Does anyone know of the best way to bring my baby back up to par? Should I take it to a good detail shop? I'm very careful when washing to avoid swirl marks but Black is impossible to keep looking really good. I haven't been able to give it a coat of Blitz wax in 5 months since the car is never really "clean", damn water restrictions. Cactus green was easy compared to this. Anyone know of a shop you trust in the central/northern NJ area? HELP! TIA

The paint was horrible from the factory, and in less than a year the car (with regular washing, always waxed, well cared for) looks like hell. I actually have clearcoat flaking off in places!
A good detail shop, to get a good starting point, followed by a good wax job, and regular maintennance should keep it looking good for longer, as long as you've got good paint to begin with.

I mostly followed Ted K's recommendations, and I bought all my stuff from carcareonline. I took some pictures with a digital camera, but cant upload the pictures yet. The Car looks beautiful. Not a single swirl mark as far as I can tell, and there were lots. The paint looks so glossy you could dive into it. I cant write all that I did now, so shoot me an email and I will write you back tonight.

the car's finish looks freshly waxed after every washing. Dirt and bird crap, as well as bugs (unless they've really really been cooked on there) come off in a breeze. The cobwebs and swirlmarks are virtually non-existent as well. The teflon lasts about a year but I do mine every 4-6 months depending on if I think the coat begins to look dull, or if the water doesn't sheet off evenly as it should. Hope this helps!

Just rest in the fact that we can not see our hoods while we drive : )
