Question on cooling turbos down before shutoff...
At what oil temp do I need to let the turbos cool down before turning the car off? Typically the temp is around 200, but if it is a short drive the oil temp may only be 150 or so -- do I still need to wait to turn the car off in this case?
I rarely take the car above 3500 rpms. Is cooling only something you have to do if you drive it hard/long before turning it off?

Do not base it off by oil temp, cause it will never drop down from daily driving.
Drive out of boost the last two miles or so and you should be fine. Or you can open the door when you park and wait for the beeping to go away.

As long as oil temps are at or below 225 and you have driven out of the boost for the last mile or
so, you'll be fine. You don't want to come off redline and turn it off. Boost is based on throttle position, not necessarily rpm's (if you floor it at lower rpm's, the turbos will spool up and be running at higher rpm's than if crusing at part throttle). Making short trips where the oil doesn't fully heat up (200 or above) isn't that good for the car either, as this contributes to sludge formation.
Just be gentle and use only part throttle (or as little as practical) when the engine is cold or during the last mile or two before you will shut it down and you'll be fine. You don't have to baby this car, just don't beat on it like a rented mule and you'll be fine. [Some people hammer the throttle while cold and/or shut it down coming off redline and go 5k+ miles with dino oil and then wonder why they have turbo issues. A little common sense goes a long way!]

I understand, just wanted to make you aware in case you didn't know. In winter, I will sometimes
drive around for an extra 5 minutes just to make sure all is up to temp. It's somewhat **** (and I only do it if I have the time). I just figured I would put that out there that it isn't a good idea to make a habit out of short trips in very cold weather; and if you can't avoid it then change oil every 3 months regardless of mileage as such conditions/use constitutes severe duty.
