Increased load is on them when weight shifts forward under braking.

Default Bad tie rods - feel like wheel is out of ballance

I could have sworn my wheels were out of ballance on the highway. Changing tie rods fixed it 100%.

That surprised me - I didn't think it would feel like that. Evidentially the tie rods allow the wheel to wobble (i.e. rapid changes in toe in, not in camber) and thus the feeling...

Default Would this only be at certain speeds?

Mine gets noticeable around 40 to 60 miles an hour. Over that it's OK again. I'm thinking this is more like an unbalanced wheel.

Default I only noticed it at highway speeds - take a look at your

tie rods. They are on the top part of the suspension. Is the boot torn. If so, the joint is soon to follow...

I have had the hammer on wheel weights fall off all of the time. If the weigh is missing, your tire is probably out of ballance. If it is there, chances are it is OK.
