Default Question for K04 peeps and those who have researched this conversion (edited)

If I were to undergo a less than full conversion, a scaled down one that involved:

-K04s with connectors
-RS4 intercoolers
-downpipes
-RS4 pressure plate and clutch disc
-Bosch platin plugs
-Upgraded fuel injectors
-MTM F hose
-AMS TBB
-Reinforced intercooler hoses (probably MTM or Samco)
-upgraded fuel pressure regulator (edited)

and, perhaps the hardest piece of the puzzle

- A tuner (I haven't begun this process) that will map a program that doesn't aim to sap every inch of power out of the engine, but will provide me with software that will deliver a respectable level of boost and fuel mapping that generally gets most of its power gains from increased efficiency.

If my goals are greater efficiency and long-term reliability for a street car, with power being an expected by product for such a system, can I really get there? And how much boost are you guys running?

Oh, and if I did this, could I hide it from my wife?

Default Sure, I'm running about the same boost levels as GIAC's X-chip...

...but with a greater efficiency, I am making much more power, esp. on the top end. This is with the stock injectors too, on not fully tuned APR software. I see 17psi from 2700-5000, tapering to 15psi at 7000. The K04's are nowhere close to being pushed at those pressures.

Default As long as you can hide the bank statements sure you can hide it.

IM Me @ zerinVR6 on AIM for detailed info about the upgrade.

Default "not fully tuned APR software" is an understatement..

Even at such an early stage in the tuning process, the K04 car has such a linear pull. It doesn't choke at 5K+ RPMs.

I can't imagine what a beast it will be once upgraded fuel delivery and final tuning gets done.

Oh, it feels just as smooth, if not smoother, than any other software I've driven.

I call it effortless acceleration.

I call it luxuriously distorting the time-space continuum in my favor.

Default That's what I'm talking about

If I can gain power all the way to the top end through mostly efficiency and keep the boost at levels your describing, that is appealing. Of course power corrupts and I would want more...

Do I convert that right that 17psi is under 1.2mbar at sea level?
