Default Question on oil lines for 5/00 build date

Were the oil lines updates like it was for 11/00 and later build date? If not, did somebody try to have them replaced whithout the turbo failure?

Do you think it is possible to talk AoA into replacing them with turbos still working properly?

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Default "pfff..good luck" is not something I am looking for...

Everybody is saying that the problem is in oil lines, that is why Audi came out with updated ones.

Default My 04/00 has the larger turbo oil lines.

Could mean that yours has them as well.

Default It not just be the oil lines

Someone posted 10 - 12 months ago of superimposed images of their factory turbos with those replaced under warranty and the oil inlet on the turbo housing was about 60% larger. Additionally, our OTS said there are differences in the turbines. Updating the oil lines may or may not provide much benefit.

Do you think it is possible to have turbos replaced based on this fact without prior turbo failure

Default No

but if you have concerns, get them documented. I believe Audi will stand behind the pre 2001.5 cars especially and fix bad turbos even after warranty expires, as long as you can get some other ducks in a row. I may be dreaming, but this is based on conversations with AOA. Of course if you chip then all bets are off. YMMV
