After adding the RS4 grill, I have decided to paint the perimeter trim from the stock grill (the shiny trim) to match the body color.
For those of you have done this, did you remove the chrome plating from the trim before priming? I tried to raise a knap on it with 400 grit wet sand paper but it's pretty tough stuff.
Any suggestions?

I did this with mine and it works, but.... it takes A LOT of bleach and A LOT of time. Sand paper doesn't do ****. The bleach will eat the chrome off of the plastic but mine took days. and after a day or so the bleach will lose its potency and it will be very dirty, then you need to pour it out and put fresh bleach in. repeat until the chrome is gone, but be patient :-) good luck!

What did you soak it in? I don't have a basin or bin large enough to fit the entire trim...
Also, you mentioned the Lexus dealer did your rings...did they send it out? Can you tell me more? Possibly refer me to the dealer so I can get more info...
TIA...

I went to Target and bought a tub with a lid, it just barely fit. If you don't have a lid I imagine wherever you do it will smell strongly of bleach. About the rings, yea they sent it out to someone to do them, they didn't tell me who or where. I went to the parts counter at Lexus of Kearny Mesa in San Diego, CA. I can't remember the woman's name who I dealt with but i'm sure whoever you talk to there can help you.
Let me know if you need anymore info.
