Question: Is it wise to tell a dealership that you have a VAG tool?

Situation: I'm getting the DTC "17866 Exhaust Gas Temp Short to Ground...intermittent" (I'm not sure how serious this DTC is.) But I'd still like it to go away.
Action: I've taken the car into the dealer and they said it's in "perfect health".
Problem: Do I tell them I have a VAG and insist they look into this? My concern is that they will think I've chipped if I tell them I have a VAG and I'm not quite ready to come out of the closet.

Its a pain in the *** though talking my way past the retarded service advisors. They seem to believe if there's no check engine light, there can't possibly be anything wrong with the car.

take the car in when the DTC is present. It cycles away. Tell them the CEL has been coming on. They'll hook up their tool and with any luck a moron won't misdiagnose your car.
They have no way of telling the sensor is bad without that DTC. They won't even think to perform the necessary diagnostic tests (voltage supply test and, if needed, a road test of EGT functionality).
Have you noticed your car isn't as crisp on the throttle? If so, it's probably because the car is running rich since it can't read your EGTs.

they are happy to talk to you about it. Dont let this issue go. Mine became a problem. The dealer replaced one of the sensors, but the DTC came back the next day. It would fluctuate from short to ground / open short to plus, and even "implausible signal". I guess the first replaced sensor was DOA, because they ended up having to replace both sensors and wiring. After some time, it started to affect performance.
