Default Question for you guys from an A6 2.7t owner

I have a 2001 2.7t and am having a few annoyances with the engine, was wondering if any of you have noticed the following:

1) While idling, in "P" or "N" (okay stop laughing, it is a Tiptronic) I hear a rattling noise, almost like a bad bearing or loose bearing coming from the front, right of center, of the engine.

2) While accelerating moderately hard through ~3800 RPM, a strange metallic buzzing noise seems to come from the top right hand side of the engine.

Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks,
Rick

Sounds like the heat shield from your cat converter

Default It's most likely a broken heat shield bracket (I think on one of the turbos).

A bracket that holds the heat shield on one of turbos breaks and rattles on the heat shield. It's usually fixed by welding bracket and heat shield together.
It appears to be a fairly common problem on the 2.7T.
