Yesterday I replaced my coolant expansion tank because it was starting to crack. After installing the new one, I filled it with half G12 and half distilled water. I then noticed that the old tank I removed had the yellow/green coolant in it from the previous owner. How bad is it that I mixed coolants? Should I just leave it alone or flush the system? Which type is recomended on the B5? Thanks for any input.

green version that is fully compatible, despite what some bottles say. I would recommend flushing the system by draining all coolant, filling and flushing with distilled water, and then refilling with pure G12.
As some water or coolant always stays in the block, I suggest putting in the amount of concentrated G12 and then diluting to full with distilled water to insure a 50/50 mix.

is between it and the regular G12. The + stuff is referred to as being purple in color, but the normal G12 appears somewhat purple - diff people call it pink, red, purple, etc. The G12+ stuff seems to come in a VW/Audi bottle, which has the same product code as the Pentosin stuff. I am not convinced there is any real difference. I bought a bottle of the VW G12 a while back and there is no diff between it and the Pentosin stuff that many websites sell. VW/Audi stuff is just repackaged - like spark plugs; the NGK's the dealer uses say VW/Audi on the insulator, but its the same plug as the NGK branded ones...
