when they ask you for manufacturers warranty, they mean, do you currently have one? So wouldn't it makes sense to sign up for this warranty gold thing at 49,999 miles? Since you still have warranty at that point? I'm confused...and the mileage they show you is total vehicle miles, or on top of what you already have (guessing its toal vehicle mileage) my S4 turned 40K miles recently, and now i'm looking at my options...

activated it @49,900 miles. I'd hate for the 'overlap' to become a 'gap' because of screwed up paperwork. It's a good thing too because the paperwork I got was wrong and I had to get a new contract after the corrections. BTW, I'm with Extended Auto Warranty Inc.

the warranties are cheaper the earlier you buy them. So, if I buy her a warranty with 1 mile on the car - let's say 7yrs/70,0000 miles...it was $599 - only kicks in after manufacturers warranty ends but it will kick in...you don't even need to tell the dealer you have it until the factory warranty expires....I got a quote for the same warranty as if I had 30,000 miles (filled out an internet quote request - one with 1 mile on the car and one with 30,000 miles on the car) on the car already - it was like $900 - the place told me you get a cheaper price the earlier you buy it. I'm not sure it would make a huge difference between 40,000 and 49,999 but it makes a big diff. if the car is new. Really makes no sense to me because the warranty does not take effect until the factory warranty expires and then there would be no more risk of something breaking at 36,001 mile whether I bought it with 1 mile on the car or with 35,999 - just what they told me.

www.warrantydirect.com - my bro-in-law uses them - they are an 'eclusion' type policy which covers everything except things noted - be careful about using a company that only covers what is listed there are a lot more things on the car...I'm not sure if this company covers twin turbos...check with them....my warranty will be $599 for 7/70,000 (but this is for a minivan)

Thus I'm covered upto 97,900 miles.
This warranty covers turbos, tranny synchros, and lots of other S4 failure prone parts. I triple checked on it.
I have made 2 claims so far and both have been paid. I had a center differential problem that was originally diagnosed as a rear differential problem. The warranty paid to have both replaced. That's $2800 of coverage. (I have $7200 left before the maximum payout)
