Quick Vag com question....

Anyone ever buy a VagCom cable off of ebay? I don't want to spend $230 on the cable and the software... I would rather buy the cable seperate and just use the free version until I get familiar with the program and its capabilities, then register through Ross-Tech.com Total about $140. If I did this which cable would I need for the s4? Would you recommend doing this, buying from Ross-Tech, or is there another alternative?

Does the free version offer nearly as much as the registered version, or should I just go straight to registered?

Ask yourself, are those $90 worth your peace of mind?

You're better off getting the whole thing from Ross-Tech (IMO).

good tools cost money, and a vag-com is the best tool you can buy for this car.

You can not use the full version of the software if you buy a "3rd-party" VAG cable.

Secondly, Ross-tech will not provide *any* support if you are having problems with the cable and/or software.

The software is free. It is the cable that costs money.
