quick window-tint question....

quick window-tint question....
I recall some of you having radio reception problems after getting your windows tinted. What was the deal, the installer was cutting something he shouldn't on the back window, right?
Anyone figured a work-around to tell the installer?
Also, what %age of tint is good. I don't want to go too dark, i.e., no limo tint! It looks good but it's a gimmie for a "pull over" by the POs.
thanks in advance!

Re: quick window-tint question....
Certain tints (the good ones) are metalized. This prevents the tint from fading. The tint laws here in Utah are 50% in the front (barely looks tinted) and 35% in the rear. If I could go darker I would. However, the darkest I would personally go would be 20%, anything darker would draw to much attention from the law enforcement agencies.

Ceramic tints won't deteriorate radio reception...
Huper-Optik is one that comes to mind. Other metallic tints like Llumar will affect AM reception the most.
Like other say 20% is a good compromise between dark and hassles by the police. 35% if you want to err on the lighter side.
