Ultimates have proven not to be able to handle much heat over a 2 day event. I have seen Cobalt Friction pads mentioned here recently, and was wondering what other relatively inexpensive options are out there for me to make it through an event without gobs of eneven deposits.

They make a few different compounds. I can't remember which one's I got, but when I called Weston, they were pretty good about guiding me based on my needs.
Now mind you, I haven't really put these pads through their paces. One track event that really only has one heavy braking zone (120 to 45ish). They had more than enough bite for me and didn't give me any issues. I wasn't running with a chip, so that certainly made life easier for my brakes.

Unfortunately, there aren't many choices. Kerr Frictions seem to be a decent option. However, after a few events when you're starting to move much faster (and brake harder), the Kerrs won't last very long. That's one of the reasons I upgraded to a BBK. I tried to stay on stock brakes as long as I could, but it wasn't economically feasible to keep buying new pads for every event. Now with a BBK, I'm getting 4+ events out of a single set of the Cobalt pads, which are the same price as the Kerrs...

if you want em I'll give you a great price on them. They were used at one BIR event held up well, but that track isn't extremely brake intensive. If you would like to try them out let me know.
