The AMG is my boss' car and ever since I got my S4 we've been talking about racing but I didn't want to do it till I was broken in. Well now I am so last night we did it. We drove over to a quiet stretch of highway near my house here in San Diego last night at about 11:00 and lined up. It was kinda cheesy cause we didn't have a starting light or anything, instead we just rolled our windows down and did a 3-2-1..GO! Well anyways I revved it up to about 3k and without much slippage took off and immediately I was about a car length in front, but what surprised me was that I didn't really gain too much from then on but neither did he. We both accelerated fairly evenly, i started creeping away after I shifted into fourth, but that was right about when we stopped. We raced up to about 100mph. I ended up beating him by about 1 1/2 maybe 2 lengths, but honestly I thought I was gonna embarass him much more than this. His car is not modified but neither is mine. I'm kinda worried, shouldn't I have beaten him by more than this? I don't know if i've got a sluggish S4 or what. I only have about 1800miles on it right now. I've heard people say that after a few thousand miles their engine loosens up and gets to be faster, is this true? Keep in mind this is NOT the newer model of the AMG the C43<p>'00 laser red/onyx S4 6sp UUC SS@40%

Don't laugh at the AMG cars. My dad has a Sl500 AMG roadster and every time I drive it I am shocked at the power the car packs. I think it is at 350 horsepower+ and probably around 5 seconds to 60mph. Remember this is an automatic to a manual. I think the C43 you raced packs 300 horsepower+ and remember it is a V8 and you have a V6. If you car isn't chipped you did fine I think. I'd want to win by more but I have chip, exhaust and more mods to put my car at 340 hp+. Happy trails

I need more coffee today
I haven't seen one of those (C36) up close and didn't they stop making them years ago? Oh well the AMG part still applies!
Still just as crazy!<p><img src="http://www.geocities.com/missimola/jks41.jpg" width="102" height="18"><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=5071"><img src="http://www.geocities.com/missimola/jks42.jpg" border="0" width="48" height="18"></a>

Well a couple car lengths sounds about right. My friend drives one and we have raced a few times and thats about the gap between us. I'll beat him every time but that car has enough juice to stay with us. I raced a C43 as well, I beat it but it stayed a little closer to me thab the 36 (within 1 car length). Has anyone raced a boxster s yet?

Both V8's 300HP Automatics Limited Editions. Fairly quick and pretty Fast. Friend has the C43 and its fun to watch him stay close to other cars while sipping a coke, just keeps it in drive none of that extra manual effort like shifting.

but I think its still around 6.5 seconds 0-60...the SL is HEAVY...
heavier than the old S-Class even. But it is a helluva nice car...
I'd take that or a Brabus 7.3L SL anyday![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
