I have damaged my fan clutch and mounting bracket. (total over $400 from Audi dealership) The A4 forum has several threads on replacing the mechanical fan with an electric one. (~ $120) The purpose of the mod being to improve engine cooling. I am happy to improve performance, but saving 300$ on my repair is equally important.
Replacing the fan with an electric one would be much less expensive than replacing those parts. Unfortunately the specs on the preferred belt and fan for an A4 may not match for the 2.7T. Has anyone done this mod on an S4?

You can leave your fan pully in place so you don't have to replace the belt.

but had to trim some of my rad support to make it fit. I had teh SPP fan on there, and, quite honestly, wish i had kept it. It's quieter and i never had a problem with it not cooling, even in 100+ deg heat.

Works fine, I wired a thermostatic switch to it. It rarely comes on but when it does, it moves a pretty insane amount of air.
