Great story, glad I catalyzed your memory! I don't have anything that good to tell, but I have...
melted the plastic wheel covers off a rental by driving it hard and getting the brakes hot enough to catch fire! Damn thing cost me $35 at the Chevy dealer to replace the wheel covers (Enterprise loaner for my S4). It was fun, though! And people look at you weird at a stoplight when there is smoke billowing out of your wheels!
