Default Was reading up on the Motronic system, and thought that this was pretty interesting.

When you monitor block 122(torque), it is actually your torque at the wheels. Thought it was pretty interesting the system was smart enough to figure out the losses. Too bad the rest of the article I can't read because I don't have an Autospeed subscription ;-)

"The ME-Motronic system internally models the net torque development of the engine. This model takes into account losses through internal friction, pumping losses, and parasitic loads such as that of the power steering and water pumps."

How do you derive wheel TQ from that statement?

That statement only refers to engine related losses not driveline

Default a) because the 'torque' function they are talking about is the same as block 122, b)

it coincides with actual dyno plots almost exactly. The reason I posted that is because people have wondered why the # is so low, because they "assumed" it was gross torque (ie before driveline loss, etc), when in reality it isnt.

Default Driveline is considered a 'parasitic' load - the only thing that may change slightly, is wheelweight

but when they built the system, why would they figure out loss on pumps, etc, and not driveline?

Ok so if it's wheel torque it "knows" the gear your in and accounts for it?

I'm not busting your *****, I think they mean it takes into account accesory driving and not DTL..

Default Its very possible, considering the TQ value is different in each gear when you measure it...

I really can't say yes or no, that was my interpretation of it, and from what I have seen logging that block, the torque increases in 4th, over 3rd, and so on and so forth. It could be a function that 1-3rd can't sustain enough boost to make "peak" torque or what.
