Default rear brake caliper piston compressor?...

Searched the archives. Used all the tricks I know and have used on other cars.
What the hell is the secret to retracting the rear caliper piston????
Any suggestions are helpful.
Thanks.

Default I watched a mechanic do it on my car last week...

he seemed to use a 'regular' piston retraction tool, like the one in the link. I also saw on some website that sells pads for the S4, a 'special' tool that you could rent from them for $15 to swap pads, but I dunno about that...<ul><li><a href="http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_SessionID=@@@@0599362560.1093731718@ @@@&amp;BV_EngineID=ccceadcmgilghmhcehgcemgdffmdfl k.0&amp;vertical=TOOL&amp;pid=00947365000">http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_SessionID=@@@@

Default Thanks. I have already broken two of those!...

Even a couple of the mechanics I work with are stumped. I am starting to wonder if the calipers need to be replaced.
Overall, I am not overly impressed with quality of the OEM brake equipment on the S4.
Thanks for you help.

Default Damn... Here's the tool I was talking about...

it doesn't look all that different, but there's supposedly some 'trick' that it does - it turns the piston as it retracts it. Maybe that's why the others broke?

Oh, and btw, Sears also had a Heavy Duty version of the caliper tool...maybe that one will work too?<ul><li><a href="http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?make=Audi&amp;engine=2.7T&amp;mod el=B5%20S4&amp;submodel=Sedan&amp;category=Braking &amp;subcategory=Tools">http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?make=Audi&amp;engine

Default I use a circular caliper retractor tool and a combo wrench...

Insert wrench in caliper bridge slot pull back to apply pressure to disc shaped caliper tool. Tool attaches to a 3/8 extension. Works like a charm

Default I think I have a serious issue...

thanks for the help guys! I really appreciate it.
I have a few UAW mechanics that I work with who have been over to my house to help me out and they are also stumped!
I have a 1971 Alfa Romeo that had calipers that were more "friendly".
I will give it another try in the morning to see what I see.
I just want to "test" the ECS stage 3 kit that I have install on the front.

Yea, I have some "heavy duty" stuff from work that should "work".
I don't know what it going on.
This is pissing me off. I don't want to buy calipers.

Default The second one he posted (from ECS) is what you need.

On the end, it has two little divets that engage the piston and turn while also pushing the piston back. That's the trick. In a pinch, you could use a pair of needlenose pliers to turn the piston, then use your generic brake took to push the piston back a bit. Keep alternating between the two tools until you get the piston all the way back.
