You won't find an amp attached to your rear speakers if you have the Bose system. The Bose system has a Bose amp installed in trunk to run the front door, rear door and parcelshelf speakers. The Bose setup uses 2 ohm drivers.

The non Bose setup on the other hand uses 4 ohm speakers in the front door and rear parcelshelf. The non Bose setup in the B5 uses the amp attached to the left rear speaker.

I actually have the Infinity Basslink sub that i'm going to install in the trunk. It's been the best sub i've ever purchased and beats having to pay for two components and a box.
