Default Rear pad replacement, is there a trick to backing the pistons? Yes I STFA and tech sections, never

found what I was looking for, but I recall seeing something about it somewhere.

My mechanic was successful, but mentioned it took some time to get it to go.

TIA

You just need a caliper tool.

Default There are two notches in the piston...

the piston tool works like a C clamp would, only it has little fingers to hook into the notches on the piston. As you turn the piston tool to push the piston back, the fingers catch and you get that push and twist action going (don't try this with the wife...you'll get slapped).

My guess is your mechanic did this the hard way...push with a C clamp, twist with some needlenose pliers, push some more with the C clamp, etc. It's like walking from here to NYC...there is a better (and less painful) way to do it, but as long as you've got the time, either way will work.

Default go to www.funkadelic.org

he has a great set of pictures detailing his rear pad replacement. I copied them and just followed the diagrams the first time I did mine.
