Recoded my tranny again the other week to see how it would work with L10 stuff....

I reset my coding from 0022 back to stock coding 0012. There is less of a clunk when engaging D and less of one when in tip mode and the car down shifts to 1. D seems to work better and i dont feel as bad driving it in tip mode now cause that 2-1 ds is not so bad. BUT.. in D the tranny clunks in the 4-3 or 3-2 ds sometimes now and, i hate to say this no pun intended, the throttle is alot less aggressive now, partly because the car no longer holds 1st gear as long unless you go more than 70% throttle, which is not necessarily bad in daily traffic for tranny wear and fuel consumption. I still dont know if i like it but i feel alittle more comfterable dirving like this for the afformentioned reasons. Now here is the issue. I am now going to log the cars behavior with this stock coding and the manufacturers testing code (0022) and see which mode would be better to tweak. I would personally like to tweak the 0022 coding in order to hold first longer, but
if we have the ability to switch to that coding for track purposes and maybe raise the throttle response allittle with stock coding, this might be the best solution for starting at. Ohh the possibilities. Time to go logging

I replaced the TC with a L10 unit. I was told by the Audi techs that there is a seal that goes bad in the TC and it bleads pressure off and does not lock up the clutch.
My symptoms did not change with the new TC. So the problem seems to be in the VB. We took the VB out and tried some different selonoids with no luck. So then we rebuilt the whole VB to discover that there is lots of "scoring" on the TC lock up clutch vavle and that it has more play in it than the other valves. So this seems to be the actuall cause of the issue. (we think). The next step is to replace the valve cores(it is a section of the VB, so the actuall vavle section of the VB)
Aside from the TC clutch not fully working the car is great ;-). We are just using it as a chance to learn more about the tiptronic. So that we can understand "why" this happens and which part is really causing the problem....and then figure out how to improve it.
