I've finally decided to do it and leave the stock world. Did some research, and it appears that ABT will suit me fine, mostly because of its conservative nature (I dont want any long term problems). Was wondering if someone could recommend a great installer/dealer in the W. Los Angeles area that will guide a relative newbie through the process. Realistically, I'll go anywhere in greater LA to get the work done right and get great support. May do suspension, too. Any recommendations?

I haven't been watching the boards for at least a year, but I seem to remember something about doing certain things to avoid unwanted attention while at a dealer.

I would strongly suggest that you buy a spare ECU and have the chip installed in that. This way, if you have a warranty issue, you can swap your original ECU back in, so that the dealer doesn't encounter any static from AoA when they go to fix an unrelated problem.

Abt doesn't make a TipChip. They do make an engine chip which has a specifically detuned torque specification for the Tiptronic transmission. I believe GIAC is the only maker of a TipChip per se, which goes in the transmission controller, instead of the engine controller, and modifies the time between shifts, and perhaps the shift points as well.
You should be able to use the Abt engine chip, and the GIAC TipChip together, though you will probably have to work with two different resellers to make this happen.
