i forgot the exact name of the stuff found there.. when i did it it was not much coming out, after every time i hit the chisel i let the dust settle a bit, and didn't breath while i was on top of it.

can't be good for you. Neither are the aromatics (toluene) that people routinely add to their tanks for increased octane.
I think it's important that we stress safety precautions of the mods we come up with on this group...especially as the group gets younger S4 owners (pre-owned) who are likely to look for easy/cheap power mods without looking at safety.

it took about 6-7 hours on Johnpa's car ..part of it friday and some left for sat.
without a lift ... big PITA.
i would do them in different days.. one day i would take out the front axle shields (right under the dp's = the hardest thing of all IMO) and move some of the driver side wiring out of the way, and the next day the dp swap.
see if you can get a car trailer (open middle) ..that would give a lot of space under the car

On another car, "a guy I know", used a piece of concrete rebar he found in a dumpster. The rebar was used to hammer the converter guts into pieces. A coat hanger was used to yank the ball of wire support mesh out of the exhaust. The car only had one pre-cat O2 sensor so it wasn't vewry involved. The tough part on these cars would be figuring out where to relocate the sensor to, and having the threaded bung welded.
