Default Repost w/Video - ChaseCam camcorder suction cup mount

<a href="http://chasecam.com/mounts-suction.htm" target="_blank">ChaseCam "Camcorder Window Mount"</a>

My video: <a href="http://www.chasecam.com/video/chasecamtest.wmv">Right click, Save as</a>
(thanks to djillusion for the music)

Works great - steady even with my largish camcorder. Obviously easy to attach wherever needed (side windows, front windshield, sunroof, etc).

This captured the instrument cluster nicely:

This got the view ahead, and was only a minimal obstruction (my line of sight is higher than the angle of these photos, and as such the camcorder only blocked my view of my hood, thus only the suction cups/post were blocking anything, and that was minimal).

<img src="http://ctny.audiworld.com/mark/s4/cameramount/dsc01703.jpg">

In this location (above) it was easy to operate the camcorder (start recording, alter the angle, zoom, etc), all while easily viewing the screen. I could have mounted the camcorder in the upper right of the windshield, completely out of the way if I knew I was just going to hit 'record' before I started driving and 'stop' when I finished. (ie, didn't need to make any adjustments from the driver's seat): [photo from ChaseCam website]

The flexibility of the mounting sockets allow a plethora of mounting configurations<ul><li><a href="http://ctny.audiworld.com/mark/s4/cameramount/">http://ctny.audiworld.com/mark/s4/cameramount/</a</li></ul>

Default Looks good. I have been using the Renn-Art mount for a few years, though

Default that one looks good as well - though less flexible and $159 instead of $65...

What do you mean when you say "I prefer a headrest mount for ease of adjustability."? Isn't easier to adjust a camera that is in front of you (attached to windshield), than one that is behind you?

Or do you specifically mean comared to the Renn-Art one? I notice that with that one the suction cup connection to the window determines an axis of the camera angle. I could see how you would have to disconnect and reconnect the suction cups to the windshield multiple times to get this right and as such could indeed be an adjustability issue. (the ChaseCam one has ball joints so this isn't an issue at all.)

Also the fact that one of those Renn-Art adjustments is a hex set screw which requires a tool to adjust. [ChaseCam has all finger-tightenable *****]

Overall, I'm *extremely* satisfied with the functionality, flexibilty, performance, and cost of the ChaseCam unit.

yeah, not sure how suction cup mounts get treated - might at least require a tether
