Resistance felt getting into gear during standstill...transmission, clutch, or accepted behavior?

No slipping clutch. No 1-2 grind. Only the first engagement into any gear requires good amount of resistance to overcome.
If the clutch stays depressed, subsequent engagements are smooth. Same for while car is in motion. I'm CPO, but if it's the clutch pressure plate as I suspect I'm out of luck. If it's the tranny, I want to get it done now, before I get chipped this summer and void the warranty.
Searched the archives, a lot of info on similar issues, but not same. Any ideas or suggestions on tests I can run to figure out what it is?
Thanks!

Mine has done this only at stops. If it does you can shift to second then back to 1st. You can also go to N give it a little blip and then go back into 1st. If you are coming to a full stop put it in gear right before you stop rolling it should go in very easy.
